Treatment of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer treatment depends on several factors, including the type and stage of the cancer, the patient's age and overall health, and the patient's personal preferences.

Surgery: Surgery is the most common treatment for breast cancer. The type of surgery depends on the stage of the cancer and may include lumpectomy (removal of the cancerous lump) or mastectomy (removal of the entire breast).

Radiation therapy: Radiation therapy is often used after surgery to kill any remaining cancer cells. It can also be used to treat cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.

Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy uses drugs to kill cancer cells. It is often used in combination with other treatments, such as surgery or radiation therapy.

Hormone therapy: Hormone therapy is used to block the effects of estrogen and progesterone, hormones that can promote the growth of some types of breast cancer.

Targeted therapy: Targeted therapy uses drugs that target specific proteins or genes that are involved in the growth and spread of cancer cells.
